Tarzan Questions Dr. Kwesi Botchwey: What The Hell Does It Matter About GHANAGAS Take Over By GNPC?

There is a robust disagreement in the take-over of the Ghana Gas Company by the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation.

According to a statement by the Ministry of Energy’s head of communications, Edward Bawa on Wednesday, “GoG has executed the legal instrument assigning its entire shareholding in GNGC to GNPC.”

However, the Board Chairman of the Ghana National Gas Company, Dr. Kwesi Botchwey has said in a statement released on Thursday that suggestions that the take-over concluded successful are improper.

“Statements suggesting that the takeover has been concluded are, therefore, surprising and premature. The Board & Management of Ghana Gas have not held a single meeting with the Transaction Advisor (who a statement from the Minister for Finance said has been appointed), neither has the Transaction Advisor requested the Company to provide it with any information. It cannot therefore be said that the process has been undertaken and concluded.

“…We are also yet to receive any written indications from either the Minister for Finance or Minister for Energy on the takeover decision and the way forward as the Company prepares to meet the transaction Advisor.

“…The Board of Ghana Gas wishes to urge all stakeholders to allow the appointed transaction Advisor to undertake its assigned task before arriving at any conclusions,” Dr. Kwesi Botchwey said in the statement

But in an response to the statement, a former Volta River Authority Chief Executive Officer, Dr Charles Wereko-Brobby has described it as unnecessary.

“What the hell does it matter about take over? We are interested in how much we get power produce in this country. People are fighting turf wars. We are interested in how we solve our power problem. We are not interested about whether GNPC has taken over Ghana gas and it is not complete.

“…We don’t care about that. It is totally unnecessary. Everybody is fighting a turf war to be a chief whiles we the Indians are suffering,” Tarzan fumed on Asempa FM
